Netflix Games Scraps Six Upcoming Indie Games From Their Roster Including Don’t Starve Together

Netflix's Recent Gaming Shakeup: Six Titles Removed from Mobile Lineup

Netflix has made significant changes to its mobile gaming strategy, removing six previously announced titles. This isn't the first time the streaming service has canceled games after initial announcements, as evidenced by the earlier cancellation of Crashlands 2.

The six games removed are: Don't Starve Together, Tales of the Shire, Compass Point: West, Lab Rat, Rotwood, and Thirsty Suitors. Netflix is reportedly shifting its focus towards narrative-driven games and titles based on its own popular shows and movies, rather than independent titles. This shift is exemplified by the upcoming additions to Netflix Stories, which will feature adaptations of shows like Ginny & Georgia and Sweet Magnolias.

While disappointing for those anticipating these games on the Netflix platform, most will still see release elsewhere:

  • Don't Starve Together: Still launching on mobile via Playdigious.
  • Rotwood: Remains in early access on Steam.
  • Tales of the Shire: Delayed to early 2025. Its Netflix Games listing has been removed.
  • Compass Point: West: Surprisingly canceled, despite being developed by Netflix-owned Next Games.
  • Lab Rat and Thirsty Suitors: Removed from Netflix's plans, future mobile release uncertain.

This strategic shift underscores Netflix's evolving approach to gaming, prioritizing titles aligned with its core content and brand identity. For a look at the remaining Netflix Games offerings, check the Google Play Store. For more Netflix news, read about the upcoming additions to Netflix Stories.
