MultiVersus: A Farewell After Season 5

Warner Bros. Games has announced the upcoming closure of MultiVersus following its fifth and final season. The game will officially shut down on May 30, 2025.

Season 5: The Last Stand

The official announcement, made on January 31, 2025, confirmed that Season 5, launching February 4, 2025, will be the game's last content update. This season will introduce two highly anticipated characters: Aquaman (DC) and Lola Bunny (Looney Tunes), both obtainable through gameplay. After Season 5 concludes, MultiVersus will be removed from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store. The reasons for the shutdown remain unstated.

Offline Play: A Lasting Legacy

While online services end, MultiVersus will offer a local gameplay mode. Players can enjoy solo matches against AI or team up with up to three friends. To access this offline mode, download the latest version of the game between February 4th and May 30th, 2025. Upon logging in, a local save file will be created, preserving all earned and purchased content.

Real-money transactions ceased on January 31, 2025. Any remaining Gleamium can be used until the game's closure.

A Short but Memorable Run

MultiVersus launched its public beta in July 2022, quickly gaining popularity as a free-to-play platform fighter. Despite a relaunch in May 2024 with significant updates (new characters, rollback netcode, a PvE mode, etc.), the game faced challenges, including technical issues and reported player count declines.

At its shutdown, MultiVersus will boast a roster of 35 playable characters. Player First Games and Warner Bros. expressed gratitude to the MultiVersus community for their support.

MultiVersus remains available for download on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC until May 30, 2025.
