Player First Games has announced that MultiVersus Season 5 will mark the end of the Warner Bros. platform fighting game, concluding on May 30, 2025, at 9 a.m. PST. The studio shared its decision to cease support for the crossover brawler through a blog post on its official website. MultiVersus, which debuted on May 28 of the previous year, will kick off its final Season 5 on February 4, 2025, and run until its scheduled end date. At that point, online play will be discontinued, but Player First Games has assured players that all earned and purchased content will remain accessible in offline modes, including local gameplay and training.
“Most importantly, we want to thank every player and person who has ever played or supported MultiVersus,” expressed the MultiVersus team. “All of us at Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games have poured our heart and soul into this game. We will be forever grateful for the incredible support of the MultiVersus community throughout this journey.”

Player First Games has also announced that real-money transactions for MultiVersus will cease as of today, though players can still use Gleamium and character tokens to access in-game content until the support ends on May 30. At that time, MultiVersus will be removed from the PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, Steam, and Epic Games Store.
The decision to end MultiVersus comes after it was labeled a significant disappointment for Warner Bros. Discovery. In a financial call in November, the company disclosed that MultiVersus fell short of expectations, leading to a $100 million writedown in its games sector. This added to a total of $300 million in losses after the launch of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League in January. Additionally, just last week, Variety reported that Warner Bros. Games head David Haddad would be leaving the company following a challenging 2024.
“We took another $100 million plus impairment due to the underperforming releases, primarily MultiVersus this quarter, bringing total writedown year-to-date to over $300 million in our games business, a key factor in this year’s studio profit decline,” stated chief financial officer Gunnar Wiedenfels during the November call.
Despite the announcement coming just days before the game's one-year anniversary, Season 5 promises to end on a high note. Alongside the typical new content seasonal updates, new characters Lola Bunny and Aquaman will join the fray. Both will be available starting next week, with Lola Bunny unlockable through a daily calendar reward and Aquaman accessible via the battle pass.
