Despite garnering mixed reviews on Steam, Monster Hunter (MH) Wilds has achieved a staggering concurrent player count of over 1 million. According to SteamDB, MH Wilds reached an unprecedented peak of 1,384,608 players at the time of writing.

This figure eclipses the all-time peaks of its predecessors, with MH World reaching 334,684 players and MH Rise at 231,360. However, MH Wilds currently holds a Mixed rating on Steam, with only 57% of 54,669 reviews being positive. Many negative reviews cite the game's poor PC optimization and performance issues.

Capcom Responds To PC Performance Issues

In response to the negative feedback regarding MH Wilds' PC performance, Capcom has taken steps to address these concerns. The official Monster Hunter Status account on Twitter (X) on February 28, 2025, shared updates and potential solutions.

The post directed players to MH Wilds' support website, which provides detailed answers to common issues. Capcom's suggested fixes include updating video/graphics drivers, ensuring the latest Windows updates are installed, and performing a clean installation of video drivers.

If problems persist, Capcom advises, "Please also try the troubleshooting steps on the Official Monster Hunter Wilds Troubleshooting & Issue Reporting Thread on the Steam community page, as they contain more detailed and additional steps that may help resolve your issue."

Game-breaking Bug Blocking Story Progress

A significant game-breaking bug has been reported that prevents story progression. This bug involves a crucial NPC not appearing, which blocks players at Main Mission: Chapter 5-2 A World Turned Upside Down. Monster Hunter Status acknowledged this issue on Twitter (X) on March 2, 2025, and confirmed that they are actively working on a fix.

Further issues include the "Grill a Meal" and "Ingredient Center" features not unlocking as expected, and problems with accessing the Smithy. The development team has already released hotfixes and updates across various platforms to address these concerns.

Character Editing Locked Behind Microtransactions

In MH Wilds, changing the appearance of characters and Palicos is locked behind microtransactions. Players can purchase the Monster Hunter Wilds - Character Edit Voucher Three-Voucher Pack for $6.00, which allows for three character edits. This pack is available across all digital storefronts.

While players can freely adjust hair, eyebrow color, facial color, makeup, and clothing, any other changes require the purchase of a voucher. Similarly, editing a Palico requires a separate voucher pack. Additionally, there's a $10 voucher that grants three edits for both the character and Palico.

However, Capcom is offering a single free character edit voucher. These microtransactions were not present during the game's testing phase, but Capcom had previously announced their inclusion in the final release.

Monster Hunter Wilds is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Stay updated with the latest on Monster Hunter Wilds by checking out our article below!
