"Monster Hunter Wilds Sells Over 8M Units in 3 Days, Sets Capcom Record"

Author:Kristen Update:May 25,2025

Monster Hunter Wilds has shattered records by selling over eight million units within just three days of its release, making it the fastest-selling game in Capcom's history. This impressive performance significantly outpaces the initial sales of its predecessors, with Monster Hunter World shipping five million copies in 2018 and Monster Hunter Rise reaching four million in 2021.

The success of Monster Hunter Wilds isn't surprising, given its phenomenal reception on Steam, where it surpassed one million concurrent players over the opening weekend. This surge not only helped it overtake Cyberpunk 2077, positioning it as the 7th most-played game ever on the platform, but also contributed to Steam reaching a new milestone of over 40 million concurrent players for the first time.

Capcom also shared that the Monster Hunter franchise, which started in 2004 on the PlayStation 2, has now sold over 108 million units as of December 31, 2024, underscoring its enduring popularity and influence in the gaming world.
