Author:Kristen Update:Mar 25,2025

The upcoming Monopoly movie from Lionsgate has tapped John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein as its writers. These talented filmmakers, known for their work on Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, are set to bring the iconic Hasbro board game to life on the big screen. Margot Robbie, through her production company LuckyChap, will produce the film, adding a significant boost to the project.

PlayDaley and Goldstein are no strangers to the world of blockbuster films. In addition to *Honor Among Thieves*, they recently wrote and directed their original film *Mayday*. Their writing credits also include *The Flash* and *Spider-Man: Homecoming*, showcasing their versatility and skill in the industry.

The journey to bring Monopoly to the cinema has been a long one. Discussions about a Monopoly film date back to 2007 when Ridley Scott showed interest in directing. In 2011, Scott enlisted writers Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, but their version of the film never materialized. A new attempt in 2015 saw Lionsgate and Hasbro collaborating on a script by Andrew Niccol, followed by reports in 2019 of Kevin Hart and director Tim Story joining the project.

However, with Lionsgate's recent acquisition of eOne from Hasbro, a fresh start has been initiated for the Monopoly movie. This new endeavor, spearheaded by Daley and Goldstein, promises to be a thrilling adaptation of the beloved game. Fans are hopeful that this version will successfully "pass Go" and deliver an engaging cinematic experience.
