Mattel Updates Mobile Apps with Accessibility Enhancements for Color Blind Users

Mattel163 enhances inclusivity in its popular mobile card games with the launch of "Beyond Colors," a colorblind-friendly feature. This significant update benefits the estimated 300 million individuals worldwide affected by color blindness.

Beyond Colors: A Clearer Game for All

Traditional card colors in UNO! Mobile, Phase 10: World Tour, and Skip-Bo Mobile are replaced with easily distinguishable shapes (squares, triangles, etc.). This ensures all players can readily identify cards, regardless of color vision.

Activating Beyond Colors

Enabling this feature is simple: access your in-game avatar, go to account settings, and select the "Beyond Colors" deck under card theme options.

Collaboration for Inclusivity

Mattel163 collaborated with colorblind gamers to develop user-friendly symbols. This initiative reflects Mattel's broader commitment to accessibility, aiming for 80% of their games to be colorblind-accessible by 2025. The development process involved color vision deficiency experts and the global gaming community, exploring solutions beyond color differentiation, including patterns and tactile cues.

Consistent Across Games

The shapes used in Beyond Colors are standardized across all three games (UNO! Mobile, Phase 10: World Tour, and Skip-Bo Mobile), providing a consistent experience.

Download these games now from the Google Play Store and experience the improved accessibility! For more gaming news, check out our other recent articles.
