Marvel's Wolverine: Updates on Hold

While Insomniac outlined their future plans, they offered no new information on the highly anticipated Marvel's Wolverine. In a Variety interview, Co-Head Chad Dezern stated that although the studio is working on "great projects and with a really ambitious roadmap," they’re maintaining focus on existing projects and aren't ready to disclose any release details for Wolverine. A 2025 release date remains unconfirmed.

"As much as we have pent-up excitement, we've got to hold on to it," Dezern explained.

Marvel's Wolverine: Initial Announcement and Subsequent Developments

Initially unveiled during the PlayStation Showcase 2021 with a cinematic teaser, Marvel's Wolverine is in development for PlayStation 5.

In a 2023 interview with Kinda Funny, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 Creative Director Bryan Intihar confirmed Wolverine's shared universe with Spider-Man, stating they're both set within the same "1048" universe. Despite both games' simultaneous 2021 announcement, crossover details remain scarce, with only a Wolverine-themed suit ("The Best There Is") appearing as an easter egg in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 for Miles Morales.

A ransomware attack in December 2023 briefly exposed some of Marvel's Wolverine's development assets and gameplay footage to the public.

Insomniac Games' Current Projects

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 launches on PC January 30, 2025, as announced at New York Comic-Con 2025. Insomniac confirmed no further DLC is planned for the game. The PC version will, however, include all post-PS5 release updates, such as new suits, New Game+, and more. Both Standard and Digital Deluxe editions will be available, the latter offering exclusive suits for Peter Parker and Miles Morales.
