Excitement is building as *Marvel Rivals* gears up for another major update, but there's been some confusion swirling around the topic of a rank reset. Players are eager to maintain their hard-earned ranks, but is *Marvel Rivals* planning a rank reset for Season 1?
In most live-service games, the start of a new season usually means a clean slate for Ranked mode standings. This reset gives everyone a fresh chance to adapt to the latest updates and climb the ranks anew. Typically, these updates roll out every few months, giving players ample time to reach their desired rank before the reset. However, *Marvel Rivals* developer NetEase Games often takes a different approach.
Initially, NetEase announced a rank reset would coincide with the mid-season update for Season 1 on February 21, 2025. This made sense, especially with the introduction of two new heroes, The Thing and Human Torch, which could shake up the game's meta. Yet, the player community reacted strongly against this move, prompting NetEase to reconsider.
In response to the feedback, the *Marvel Rivals* team posted an update on their blog: “After the release of Dev Talk 10 regarding the seasonal rank adjustment, we received a wealth of feedback from the community. A common concern was the pressure associated with having a rank reset every half-season, which has made participating in competitive mode less enjoyable. In light of the community’s input, we have decided to make some changes to optimize the rank system.”
The post further clarified, “When the second half of the season begins, there will be no rank reset. Players will retain their ranks and scores from the end of the first half. To earn new rewards, players simply need to complete 10 matches in Competitive mode and meet the relevant conditions by the end of the season. Rewards will include a new Gold rank costume and a variety of Crests of Honor, featuring distinct designs for Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and One Above All.”
This decision is fantastic news for players, especially those at the top ranks, who now have an additional month and a half to compete at the highest level. It also showcases NetEase's responsiveness to player feedback, demonstrating their commitment to enhancing the gaming experience.

Alongside the introduction of The Thing and Human Torch, *Marvel Rivals* Season 1 mid-season update promises significant adjustments. While specific details on character buffs and nerfs are yet to be revealed, the community is buzzing with speculation about which heroes might need tweaks.
So, to answer the burning question: *Marvel Rivals* will not have a mid-season rank reset for Season 1. For more insights, check out counters for all the heroes in this hero shooter.
