Marvel Rivals Developer Is 'Open' to Potential Future Release on Nintendo Switch 2

Marvel Rivals, the acclaimed hero shooter, is a smash hit on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. However, developer NetEase has confirmed it won't be releasing on the original Nintendo Switch due to performance limitations. But what about the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2?

Recent conversations with Marvel Rivals producer Weicong Wu at the DICE Summit shed light on this. Wu stated that NetEase is actively engaging with Nintendo, acquiring development kits, and exploring a Switch 2 release. The primary reason for skipping the original Switch was its inability to deliver a satisfactory gameplay experience. Should the Switch 2's capabilities allow for optimal performance, a port is definitely on the table.

PlayThe Nintendo Switch 2, officially unveiled last month, promises enhanced power and features compared to its predecessor. Rumored mouse-like controller functionality could potentially improve the shooter experience, offering a more PC-like feel. The exact implementation remains unclear.

While a release date for the Switch 2 is still pending (a Nintendo Direct is scheduled for April 2nd), Marvel Rivals is currently available on other platforms. Our 8/10 review praised the game, stating it "may be following closely in the slipstream of the hero shooters that have come before it, but by doing so Marvel Rivals has firmly placed itself in a strong position to take the crown for itself." The Human Torch and The Thing are slated to join the roster on February 21st.
