Capcom producer Shuhei Matsumoto hints at the possible return of beloved original characters from Marvel vs. Capcom 2. The statement, made at EVO 2024, follows the upcoming release of the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection: Arcade Classics.

Matsumoto confirmed that a return for Amingo, Ruby Heart, and SonSon is "always a possibility." The Fighting Collection, he explained, offers a chance to reintroduce these characters to a wider audience, potentially sparking interest for their inclusion in future titles like Street Fighter 6. He emphasized that fan demand will play a significant role in determining their future appearances.

The producer also revealed that the Marvel vs. Capcom Fighting Collection has been in the works for several years, requiring extensive collaboration with Marvel. He expressed Capcom's desire to develop a new Versus series title, alongside re-releasing other classic fighting games with modern features like rollback netcode on current platforms.
