Mai Shiranui has caused a huge surge of interest in Street Fighter 6

Street Fighter 6 welcomes a new fighter, reigniting player interest. The popular Capcom fighting game, boasting 4.4 million copies sold by December 31st, 2024, has added Mai Shiranui from the Fatal Fury series.

This addition, the third character in the game's second season, has significantly boosted Street Fighter 6's popularity. Steam's peak concurrent player count surged past 63,000 on the day of Mai's release—a substantial increase from the previous peak of 24-27,000 and the best result since May 2024.

Access to Mai is granted through the Battle Pass. World Tour mode allows players to cultivate relationships with Mai, learn her moves, and subsequently test them in Battle Hub. A second costume, inspired by her Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves appearance, has also been introduced.

Furthermore, Battle Hub features a temporary guest character: Professor Woshige, a renowned fighting game developer. Players can experience his unique fighting style until March 10th. The update also includes new Master League ranks and accompanying rewards.

Capcom showcased Mai's impressive fighting techniques in a recently released trailer.
