"MageTrain: Fast-Paced Pixel Roguelike Now on Android"

Tidepool Games has launched an exciting new fast-paced pixel art 'snakelike' roguelike for Android enthusiasts, and it's called MageTrain. If you're familiar with Nimble Quest, you'll find MageTrain's gameplay reminiscent of it, as it heavily draws inspiration from this classic.

What’s MageTrain Like?

MageTrain is a thrilling blend of Snake, auto-battlers, and roguelikes. You'll lead a line of heroes that trail behind you, much like a snake, each autonomously attacking as you navigate through an arena. Your role is to strategically manage their positions to avoid collisions with enemies or obstacles, deciding who should lead and who should support from the back, as their abilities shift based on their placement in the line.

At launch, you have nine heroes to choose from, including one unique character who throws birds. Each hero brings distinct skills to the table, varying based on their position within the train. As you progress, you'll journey through eight diverse dungeons, confront 28 different enemy types, and unlock 30 skills to enhance your team. Along the way, you'll collect gold and power-ups to aid your quest.

The roguelike nature of MageTrain ensures that each run is unique, with branching paths and upgrade choices that challenge you to survive as long as possible. Similar to games like Slay the Spire or FTL, there are no fixed levels, and progress isn't saved; a single mistake means starting over from scratch.

It Isn’t Slow-Paced

The game's charm lies in the continual improvement you experience with each run, even when you face setbacks. You'll learn the nuances of when to play defensively, when to go on the offensive, and when to simply hold out for another few crucial seconds.
