Warhorse Studios confirms that their upcoming medieval RPG, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (KCD2), will launch completely DRM-free. This follows concerns and misinformation circulating among gamers regarding the inclusion of DRM.

Addressing recent speculation, Warhorse Studios' PR head, Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, explicitly stated during a Twitch stream that KCD2 will not utilize any DRM, including Denuvo. He clarified that previous discussions about DRM were misinterpreted, leading to inaccurate reports. He urged fans to cease inquiries about Denuvo's presence, emphasizing that any unconfirmed information is false.

The decision to forgo DRM addresses player concerns about potential performance impacts often associated with such tools. Denuvo, while acting as anti-piracy software, has faced criticism for negatively affecting gameplay experience on PC. Denuvo's product manager, Andreas Ullmann, attributes this negative perception to misinformation and confirmation bias.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is set for release in February 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game continues Henry's story, a blacksmith-in-training whose village faces devastation. Players who contributed at least $200 to the Kickstarter campaign will receive a free copy.
