Hitman Dev's 007: First Light Officially Revealed This Week

After more than five years since its initial announcement, we are finally getting our first genuine look at IO Interactive's new James Bond game. First teased under the codename Project 007, the official title is now confirmed as 007: First Light, with a full reveal scheduled for this upcoming week.

In a recent post on Twitter/X, developer IO Interactive shared a still image showing what appears to be James Bond in silhouette, gently illuminated by a single beam of light. The text overlay reads "First Light 007" and "Game reveal this week," accompanied by the hashtag "#EarnTheNumber"—a likely nod to the game’s origin storyline, which explores how Bond earns his iconic 007 designation.

Although the post did not include additional specifics, it is highly probable that the game will appear at one of the major showcases taking place this week, such as Summer Game Fest, Summer of Gaming, or other prominent events typical of early June.

Originally unveiled in 2020 as Project 007, 007: First Light has remained shrouded in mystery. What we do know is that it presents an original James Bond origin story—not tied to any specific film—and marks the beginning of what IO Interactive hopes will become a new game trilogy. That said, development on the beloved Hitman series has been paused while the studio focuses on this project. In April, it was also confirmed that the game will launch not only on PC, PlayStation, and Xbox, but also on Nintendo's upcoming Switch 2.
