Jack Quaid, known for his role in "The Boys," has expressed a keen interest in starring in a potential BioShock movie, citing the iconic first-person shooter as one of his all-time favorite games. In a Reddit AMA promoting his new film, "Novocaine," Quaid highlighted BioShock's rich lore as a perfect candidate for adaptation into a TV show or movie.
"I would actually love to be in a live action adaptation of BioShock - one of my favorite games of all time," he stated. "I think there's such a rich lore to that game that could be explored in a TV or movie adaptation."
However, the realization of a BioShock movie remains uncertain. Producer Roy Lee mentioned last July that following leadership changes, the project had been "reconfigured" into a more personal film due to budget adjustments from Netflix. While details of the plot remain under wraps, Hunger Games director Francis Lawrence is still set to helm the project.
"The new regime has lowered the budgets," Lee explained. "So we’re doing a much smaller version. It’s going to be a more personal point of view, as opposed to a grander, big project."
Quaid's enthusiasm for BioShock also led to amusing comparisons with another video game character, Max Payne. Fans noted Quaid's striking resemblance to Max Payne, whose likeness is inspired by Remedy writer Sam Lake. This resemblance was particularly evident in scenes from Quaid's new action movie, "Novocaine," sparking speculation about a potential Max Payne film.
Quaid acknowledged the resemblance but admitted his unfamiliarity with Max Payne, stating, "I've seen people say that I look like Max Payne, and when I've looked at the box art, even I did a double-take. I love Rockstar's games, but unfortunately I've never played that one - it's next on the list, for sure."
Beyond BioShock, Quaid revealed his passion for FromSoftware's challenging games. In the same Reddit AMA, he shared his experiences with titles like Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Elden Ring, emphasizing his love for the demanding gameplay these games offer.
"I'm a huge video game nerd," he said. "And lately I've been diving headfirst into the FromSoftware library. I beat Bloodborne, then I beat Sekiro, and now I'm going full boar into Elden Ring. Actually, the thing I use Reddit the most for is tips and tricks on beating Fromsoft's bosses. I love how challenging the games are - it took me a while to get into them, but now I'm obsessed."
