Hyper Light Breaker: How to Get New Weapons

Author:Kristen Update:Mar 22,2025

Hyper Light Breaker boasts a diverse arsenal of weapons, and crafting a truly effective build hinges on securing a solid selection. While you begin with basic equipment, the game progressively unveils opportunities to acquire weapons perfectly tailored to your preferred playstyle.

Blending roguelike and extraction game elements, Hyper Light Breaker introduces a unique approach to gear acquisition. Here’s how to expand your weaponry:

Where to Find New Weapons in Hyper Light Breaker

The most direct route to new gear is exploring Overgrowths. While exploring naturally yields new items, focusing on sword or pistol icons on the map will lead you directly to Blades (melee weapons) and Rails (ranged weapons) respectively.

Blades offer diverse movesets and special abilities, while Rails provide a variety of ranged functionalities. Both weapon types come in varying rarities, with gold representing the most powerful. As expected, rarer weapons boast superior stats.

To save any weapon discovered in an Overgrowth for later use, press the Cache button instead of Equip. You can then equip them before embarking on your next run by adjusting your loadout.

Acquiring New Starting Weapons

Beyond acquiring weapons during runs, you can purchase new starting equipment from merchants at the Cursed Outpost. Initially, only the Blades merchant is available. To unlock the Rail merchant, you must gather sufficient materials to repair their shop.

Merchants maintain limited stock, but their inventories refresh over time. If you don't find what you seek immediately, check back later for new options.

Weapon Upgrades

Upgrade your weapons at the Outpost merchants, but first, you must unlock the upgrade function by increasing your affinity with the merchants. This requires Golden Rations, a resource obtained through exploration or cycle resets. Golden Rations are scarce, so use them judiciously.

Remember, equipped gear loses durability (represented by a bar under the icon) each time you die, eventually breaking after repeated failures.
