Following Microsoft's subtle nod to Hollow Knight: Silksong in an official Xbox post, backend modifications to the game's Steam listing have intensified speculation about an imminent re-reveal and potential release.

As observed across various online communities, Hollow Knight: Silksong's Steam metadata received updates on March 24. SteamDB records show these changes include GeForce Now integration, asset updates, and notably, an adjustment to the copyright notice from 2019 to 2025.

These developments suggest significant movement on Hollow Knight: Silksong, potentially pointing toward a 2025 release. With Nintendo's Switch 2 Direct scheduled for April 2, eager fans might not have to wait much longer for official news.

Six years have passed since Hollow Knight: Silksong's initial announcement. While Team Cherry has sporadically shared new details, extended periods of silence have characterized the wait.

January proved particularly eventful for the Hollow Knight community when cryptic social media activity from a developer ignited widespread speculation about a possible re-reveal during the Switch 2 presentation - potentially even as a timed exclusive launch title for Nintendo's next-generation console.

It's important to recall that Team Cherry initially confirmed Windows, Mac, Linux, and Nintendo Switch as launch platforms. The game also ranks among the most anticipated Game Pass titles following Microsoft's agreement for day-one availability on its subscription service.

Microsoft featured Hollow Knight: Silksong in its June 2022 Xbox-Bethesda Showcase, announcing all showcased titles would be playable within 12 months, implying the sequel's anticipated release window.

In May 2023, Team Cherry announced the game's delay beyond the first half of 2023, with marketing lead Matthew Griffin explaining: "We're taking additional time to refine this expansive game and ensure it meets our quality standards."

As the successor to 2017's masterpiece, Hollow Knight: Silksong carries tremendous expectations and remains one of Steam's most wishlisted titles. IGN's original review praised Hollow Knight's "rich, compelling world filled with discoverable stories and rewarding exploration through expertly designed branching paths."
