"Hollow Knight: Silksong Playable at Australian Museum in September 2025"

In an exclusive reveal, IGN has confirmed that *Hollow Knight: Silksong* will be playable at a major Australian museum this September 2025. The highly anticipated sequel from Adelaide-based indie studio Team Cherry has remained one of the most-wished games on Steam for years, and while an exact release date remains under wraps, fans will get their first hands-on experience with the game at ACMI — Australia’s national museum of screen culture — starting September 18.

As part of the upcoming Game Worlds exhibition in Melbourne, visitors will not only have the chance to play *Silksong*, but also explore behind-the-scenes displays detailing the game's artistic vision and development process. This includes concept art, animation breakdowns, and insights into the intricate design of its boss battles and character movements.

ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell shared their excitement about featuring the title:

"Since its initial announcement in 2019, *Hollow Knight: Silksong* has remained one of the most anticipated indie titles globally. We're honored to showcase the depth of its design as a centerpiece of the *Game Worlds* exhibition. From the hundreds of sprites animating Hornet’s fluid movements and attacks, to the strategic intricacies behind the toughest boss encounters — our exhibit dives deep into the creative process behind the game. It’s incredibly rewarding to present the game itself as a playable experience in-gallery, and we’re grateful to Team Cherry for allowing us to share their work with the public."

As part of the announcement, ACMI released a detailed sprite sheet from *Silksong*, offering a glimpse into the meticulous animation work that brings the game’s characters to life. The image was shared with IGN exclusively and is one of many visual elements that will be featured in the exhibition.

While fans continue to eagerly await the official launch, the inclusion of *Silksong* in a public exhibition hints that the final release may be drawing near. Given that the playable version will be available from mid-September, it’s likely the game could arrive earlier in the year — possibly in August 2025.

This comes shortly after *Silksong* made a surprise appearance during Nintendo’s Switch 2 Direct presentation last month. Though brief, the segment marked one of the most significant updates in years, featuring new gameplay footage and confirming the updated 2025 release window.

Originally announced for Nintendo Switch and PC, later expansions will bring the game to Xbox platforms (including Game Pass), as well as PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Over the years, Team Cherry has kept fans guessing with cryptic teases — including a recent oddball reference to a chocolate cake recipe — sparking speculation about what other surprises might be in store ahead of launch.
