Hogwarts Legacy 2 is \"One of the Biggest Priorities\" for WB Games

Following the successful launch of Quidditch Champions this week, Warner Bros. Discovery has confirmed plans for a sequel to last year's hugely popular action RPG, Hogwarts Legacy—2023's best-selling game.

Arriving in a "Couple of Years"

Warner Bros. Discovery has officially confirmed its intention to develop a sequel to the critically acclaimed Hogwarts Legacy, the Harry Potter-themed action RPG that soared to become 2023's best-selling game, boasting over 24 million copies sold since its release. During the Bank of America’s 2024 Media, Communications & Entertainment Conference, Warner Bros. Discovery CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels stated that a sequel is a top priority.

"Obviously, a successor to Hogwarts Legacy is one of the biggest priorities in a couple of years down the road," Wiedenfels confirmed. "So there is certainly a significant growth contribution from that [games] business in our strategic outlook here."

Earlier this year, Warner Bros. Games' David Haddad highlighted the game's remarkable replayability as a key factor in its success in an interview with Variety. "Many players have gone back and played the game more than once," Haddad noted. He emphasized that the game's success extends beyond sales figures and replayability, stating, "It brought Harry Potter to life in a new way for gamers where they could be themselves in this world, in this story." This immersive and personalized experience, Haddad believes, is what truly resonated with players, propelling Hogwarts Legacy to the top of the sales charts. He added, "That’s a position that typically is held by one of these incumbent’s sequel games and we’re so proud that we’ve been able to break into the top ranks."
