  • Hearthstone's largest-ever Mini-Set, Heroes of StarCraft, arrives January 21st, boasting 49 new cards.

Hearthstone has unveiled details for its highly anticipated Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, launching January 21st. This expansion, the largest in Hearthstone history, features 49 new cards, including class-specific cards, multi-class StarCraft faction cards, and a unique neutral Legendary card.

Initially teased during the Warcraft Direct on November 13, 2024, Heroes of StarCraft marks a thrilling crossover between Hearthstone and StarCraft, Blizzard's acclaimed science fiction RTS franchise. Following the initial announcement, further details were promised for after the new year.

Now, two months later, the full scope of this Mini-Set is revealed. The 49 cards—significantly larger than typical Mini-Sets—include three cards per Hearthstone class. Each of the three StarCraft factions (Zerg, Protoss, Terran) contributes five cards playable by specific classes, with one Legendary card per faction. Finally, a single neutral Legendary card, Grunty, completes the set. A selection of cards has already been showcased, with further reveals planned throughout the week leading up to the launch.

  • January 21st

The Zerg cards (playable by Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock) focus on summoning numerous Zerglings and leveraging Hydralisks for damage scaling with swarm size. Protoss cards (for Druid, Mage, Priest, and Rogue) center around temporary and permanent mana manipulation to deploy powerful cards like the Carrier. Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior classes gain access to enhanced Starship mechanics from Hearthstone's The Great Dark Beyond set, featuring new Starship Pieces, strategies for deploying multiple Starships, and a unique Mech-type Starship.

The expanded size of Heroes of StarCraft translates to a higher price point. While obtainable through The Great Dark Beyond packs, players can purchase the full set for $20 (2500 gold) – a $5 (500 gold) increase over standard Mini-Sets – or the all-Golden version for $80 (12,000 gold). Alternatively, individual faction packs (Protoss, Terran, or Zerg) are available for $10 (1200 gold).

To celebrate the launch, Hearthstone is hosting two streamed events: StarCast and HearthCraft. StarCast (January 23rd, 10 AM PST) features StarCraft legends TrumpSC and Day9 showcasing the new cards. HearthCraft (January 24th, 9 AM PST) pits Hearthstone community creators against each other in faction-based matches and mini-games. Viewers on Twitch can earn two standard and two Golden The Great Dark Beyond packs by tuning in.
