Two GTA Titles Are Leaving Netflix Games Next Month

Netflix Games is losing two Grand Theft Auto titles next month. Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City will be removed from the Netflix Games catalog on December 13th.

Why are these games leaving?

The licenses for GTA III and Vice City are expiring. Netflix's agreements for these games, like its movie and series agreements, are temporary. The games were added a year ago, and the initial 12-month license is ending. A "Leaving Soon" label will appear on the games before their removal. Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas remains available on the platform.

Where can I play them after they leave Netflix?

Both GTA III and Vice City are available for purchase individually or as part of a trilogy bundle on the Google Play Store. Each game costs $4.99, or the entire trilogy can be purchased for $11.99.

What's the future for these games on Netflix?

While the reason for Rockstar Games not renewing the license is unclear, it's speculated that a future collaboration between Rockstar and Netflix might bring remastered versions of Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, and even Chinatown Wars to the platform.

This news follows the surprise removal of other titles last year, but at least Netflix is giving players advance notice this time. It's noteworthy that the GTA trilogy significantly contributed to Netflix Games' subscriber growth in 2023.
