PlayStation and Sucker Punch Productions have officially announced the release date for Ghost of Tsushima's sequel, Ghost of Yōtei. On April 23, a new trailer titled "The Onryō’s List" was released, offering a glimpse into the game's narrative and gameplay. The trailer concludes with the exciting announcement of the game's launch date: October 2, 2025.

Ghost of Yōtei follows the gripping tale of Atsu, set in the heart of Ezo (modern-day Hokkaido), as she seeks vengeance against the notorious Yōtei Six, the group responsible for the murder of her family. Atsu's quest is to hunt down each member: The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and Lord Saito.

This standalone sequel is set 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. Earlier this year, the developers shared insights into the game's new features, including an array of new weapons and mechanics, building upon the legacy of its predecessor.

Hunt Down The Yōtei Six Your Way

In Ghost of Yōtei, players have the freedom to pursue the Yōtei Six in any order they choose, crafting their own path of revenge. Sucker Punch elaborated on these features in a post on PlayStation.blog on April 23, shedding light on Atsu's journey and the game's mechanics.

The game introduces an evolved exploration system, offering greater freedom and variety in the open world compared to Ghost of Tsushima. Beyond the main quest of hunting the outlaws, players can engage in numerous activities in Ezo. According to the blog, "Atsu can also track other dangerous targets and claim bounties, or seek out weapon sensei to learn new skills."

Fans of the series will find familiar elements like the beloved "Guiding Wind" feature, alongside new additions such as the ability to build campfires anywhere in the open world. The developers emphasize player choice and freedom in the expansive land of Ezo, promising more details in the coming months.
