Gears of War YouTube Channel Vanishes

The Coalition's surprising purge of the official Gears of War YouTube and Twitch channels has left fans reeling. The channels, once brimming with classic trailers, developer streams, and esports content, now feature a bare minimum of videos: the recent Gears of War: E-Day reveal trailer and a 2020 fan-made video compilation. This drastic action comes shortly after the highly anticipated announcement of Gears of War: E-Day, a prequel set fourteen years before the original game.

The E-Day reveal positions the game as a potential franchise reboot, focusing on Marcus and Dom during the initial days of Emergence Day. While a release date remains unconfirmed (though rumored for 2025), a recent in-game message within Gears 5 further fueled excitement for the prequel.

The near-complete deletion of the channel's content has sparked speculation among the Gears community. Many cherished the old trailers, particularly the original, whose iconic use of Gary Jules' "Mad World" was subtly referenced in the E-Day trailer. The theory circulating is that The Coalition aims for a clean slate, symbolically erasing the past to emphasize the E-Day prequel's fresh start.

However, it's plausible that the videos are merely archived rather than permanently deleted. Their potential return remains a possibility. For now, fans seeking nostalgic content will need to rely on alternative sources, though the game's trailers are readily available across various platforms. Locating developer streams and esports archives, however, may prove more challenging.
