Forza Horizon 5 Should Hit PlayStation

Author:Kristen Update:Jun 27,2025

Forza Horizon 5 stands alone on PlayStation 5 as the pinnacle of open-world racing experiences.

While other titles attempt to fill the void, none quite capture what Forza Horizon 5 delivers. The Crew Motorfest leans closer than most, adopting a festival-style approach that mirrors the Horizon series more than its earlier iterations. But even then, it's not quite the same.

Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown? Unfortunately, it went in the opposite direction. While the original Test Drive Unlimited inspired the genre, Solar Crown leaned too heavily into always-online mechanics without offering an offline alternative. Forza Horizon has offered seamless transitions between solo and multiplayer since 2014—something fans continue to appreciate.

Need for Speed Unbound brings high-octane action and deep customization, but its arcade style and police chase focus make it a different beast altogether. It’s not a direct competitor in the realistic open-world racing space where Forza thrives.

That’s why Forza Horizon 5 remains unmatched. Now available on PS5 for the first time, players are discovering its vast and vibrant Mexico map, precision-tuned driving mechanics, and a garage filled with over 900 vehicles—from supercars to cult classics you won’t find anywhere else.

It’s more than just a racing game. It’s a playground for car lovers, a visual spectacle, and a creative sandbox through features like the Event Lab.

The response from new PlayStation players has been exciting to observe.

Playground Games art director Don Arceta shared his enthusiasm:
"I’m super excited—brand new players getting their first taste of Forza Horizon. I can’t wait to see what they create with the Event Lab."

With over 800 props available—including exclusive Halo-themed items—PS5 users are already being encouraged to build and share their own events and races. And thanks to Panic Button’s technical expertise, the PS5 port runs flawlessly, matching the Xbox and PC versions in both performance and fidelity.

David Orton, lead game designer at Playground Games, highlights the freedom that defines Forza Horizon 5:

"There’s so much to do—road racing, track events, photography, or even creating your own content. Everyone is welcome here. This isn’t just a racing game. It’s a world to explore."

Ultimately, the goal is simple: for new players to be surprised—and delighted—by how much they’ve been missing.

"Once they’re surprised, they’re hooked," says Arceta.
Orton agrees: "We want them to feel like they’ve found a new home."

Forza Horizon 5 breaks down barriers, bringing one of the best racing experiences to a whole new audience. And for many, it might just be love at first lap.
