Feral Interactive Releases Imperium Update for ROME: Total War

ROME: Total War players on Android rejoice—Feral Interactive has just released a massive free update dubbed the "Imperium Update," packed with enhancements and new features. Originally launching on Android in 2018, this classic strategy game has received significant improvements that bring it closer to its more recent mobile counterparts, such as Total War: MEDIEVAL II and EMPIRE.

What’s New in the Imperium Update?

The update introduces several innovative control options designed to give players greater precision and ease of use during gameplay. ROME: Total War now features three distinct control modes: Positioning Mode, Melee Mode, and Automatic Deselection.

With Positioning Mode, you can fine-tune unit placement effortlessly by tapping and holding. Meanwhile, the Group Grid option simplifies unit management through a collapsible selection menu. Melee Mode allows ranged units to seamlessly transition into close combat when necessary.

Another standout feature is Command Slowdown, which automatically slows the game pace when issuing intricate commands. For the first time ever, keyboard and mouse support has been introduced for Android (and iPad), offering even more flexibility.

The minimap has undergone a redesign inspired by MEDIEVAL II, boasting smoother zooming and navigation. Additionally, a new reset button enables users to swiftly return to the default view.

The update is currently available for ROME: Total War on Android and can be downloaded directly from the Google Play Store. Fans of the standalone expansions, Barbarian Invasion and Alexander, will find similar updates rolling out next week—be sure to keep an eye out for those as well.
