Escape from Tarkov update 0.16.0.0 changes revealed

Escape from Tarkov's 0.16.0.0 update is here, bringing a massive overhaul! While technical work continues, Battlestate Games has unveiled a comprehensive changelog detailing new features and bug fixes. A new trailer accompanies this significant release.

Escape from Tarkov 0.16.0.0 Update Highlights:

The update introduces the "Khorovod" event, featuring special tasks and rewards, and a unique game mode. Players must light and protect a Christmas tree in six different locations.

A highly anticipated addition is the "Prestige" system, similar to Call of Duty's prestige mechanics. Reaching level 55, completing quests, and accumulating resources unlocks the ability to reset your character, retaining some equipment while earning rewards unaffected by wipes. These rewards include achievements, cosmetics, and additional tasks. Currently, two prestige levels are available, with eight more planned.

Other key improvements include:

• Unity 2022 Engine: A significant upgrade to the game engine.
• Frostbite Status Effect: Exposure to cold reduces vision and stamina. Alcohol, warmth, and shelter offer relief.
• Winter Themed Updates: Various winter-themed enhancements and map changes.
• Customs Map Rework: Improved textures, new objects, and points of interest.
• Seven New Weapons: Including two assault rifles and a rocket launcher.
• Hidden Exfiltration Points: Require special items for access.
• New BTR Driver Quest Chain: A new series of missions to complete.
• Hideout Customization Enhancements: More options for personalizing your hideout.
• Continuous Healing: A new feature allowing for uninterrupted healing.
• Recoil Balancing and Visual Improvements: Gameplay and visual refinements.
• Numerous Balance Changes and Bug Fixes: Addressing various gameplay issues.

This update coincides with a standard Escape from Tarkov wipe, meaning players will have a fresh start and plenty to explore once the servers are live.
