The iconic Master Chief, star of the Halo franchise and a beloved Fortnite skin, recently returned to the item shop after a two-year hiatus, much to the delight of fans. However, this joyous reunion was briefly marred by a controversy surrounding a special Matte Black style.
Initially offered exclusively to Xbox Series S|X players, the Matte Black style was previously advertised as perpetually available. The abrupt announcement of its removal caused significant backlash, with some players even considering legal action, including a potential class-action lawsuit.
Fortunately, Epic Games swiftly reversed course within 24 hours. The Matte Black style is now available to all Master Chief skin owners who play a single game on an Xbox Series S|X console.
This reversal appears to be a wise move, particularly given the holiday season. Spoiling the festive cheer with such a contentious decision would have been ill-advised.
