Elden Ring: Nightreign Duos Mode Launches July 30

For players who have always wanted to experience Elden Ring Nightreign exclusively with a trusted partner, the wish is finally being granted. FromSoftware has confirmed that Patch 1.02 will introduce a two-player Duo Expeditions mode.

Releasing on July 30, the update will allow two Nightfarers to set out together and take down the Nightlords as a pair. Previously, the only choices were venturing out alone or joining two other players for a three-person team.

The duos feature has been highly requested, as a significant number of players prefer teaming up with just one companion. Elden Ring Nightreign director Junya Ishizaki previously acknowledged that the two-player mode was unintentionally overlooked during development.

Following the game’s release, FromSoftware promised to introduce Duo Expeditions, and now, several weeks later, the mode is ready. This will be a welcome addition for playing with friends or family without having to include an unfamiliar third player.

In addition to the duo mode, Patch 1.02 includes several quality-of-life improvements, such as expanded filtering options for your Relic inventory. With many players likely amassing a large collection of Relics by now, the new sorting tools will be especially useful.

Duo teams and other players will also face new challenges as the next Everdark cycle begins at the end of July. Starting July 31, enhanced Everdark Sovereign versions of Tricephalos, Augur, Equilibrious Beast, and the Fissure in the Fog will become available. Based on previous Everdark Sovereign encounters, solo, duo, and trio players can look forward to thrilling and demanding battles.

It’s great to see this popular playstyle finally supported, especially since it’s been less than two months since Nightreign’s launch. Watching FromSoftware adapt to a live-service model with Elden Ring Nightreign has been fascinating, and with potential DLC on the horizon, there’s surely more to explore in the Lands Between.
