EA to Shut Down The Simpsons: Tapped Out

Ever played The Simpsons: Tapped Out, the beloved city-building mobile game by EA (Electronic Arts)? Launched way back in 2012 on Apple's App Store and hitting Google Play in 2013, this game has entertained players for a solid twelve years. Unfortunately, EA has announced plans to sunset the game, marking the end of an era.

When Is It Shutting Down?

In-app purchases have already been turned off in The Simpsons: Tapped Out. Come October 31st, 2024, the game will no longer be available for download. However, if you're keen to squeeze out every last moment, you can keep playing until the servers go offline on January 24th, 2025.

EA's announcement came with a heartfelt thank you to all the players who have been part of this journey. The collaboration with The Simpsons and The Walt Disney Company allowed fans to build and customize their own versions of Springfield for over a decade.

You Still Have The Chance, Will You Play The Simpsons: Tapped Out?

If you haven’t yet experienced this gem and want to dive in before it's gone, here's a quick rundown. In The Simpsons: Tapped Out, you take charge of Springfield, rebuilding it from scratch after Homer's nuclear meltdown mishap.

From Homer's chaotic rebuilding efforts to Marge, Lisa, and Bart getting back on track, you can craft Springfield exactly as you envision it. You'll have the chance to interact with iconic characters like Fat Tony and dress them up in unique outfits, such as Daredevil Bart. Expand your town to Springfield Heights and even manage the Kwik-E-Mart like Apu.

The Simpsons: Tapped Out is a freemium game, often featuring updates tied to the show's storylines and real-life holiday events. While the game is free to download, donuts are the premium currency that keeps the fun going.

If you're interested in giving it a whirl before the plug is pulled, you can grab it from the Google Play Store. And don't forget to check out our article on eBaseball: MLB Pro Spirit, a new game coming to mobile this fall!
