Dr Disrespect's Midnight Society Closes, Game Axed

Author:Kristen Update:Mar 18,2026

Midnight Society, the gaming studio established by streamer Dr. Disrespect (Guy Beahm) and fellow industry veterans, has confirmed it is shutting down and canceling its first-person shooter title, Deadrop.

The studio shared the news in a social media post, stating, "Today, we're announcing that Midnight Society will be closing its doors after three amazing years, with a talented team of more than 55 developers." The message also asked whether other studios were hiring and could provide job opportunities for its employees.

Midnight Society was co-founded by Beahm along with games industry veterans Robert Bowling and Quinn Delhyo, who had worked on series such as Call of Duty and Halo. The studio’s debut game, Deadrop, was planned as a free-to-play FPS built on the team’s extensive shooter experience. While initially targeting a 2024 launch, the project failed to meet that deadline.

Midnight Society ended its relationship with Beahm in 2024 after the streamer disclosed he had exchanged messages with a minor via Twitch’s Whispers feature, which he acknowledged “sometimes veered into inappropriate territory.” Despite the separation, development on Deadrop continued until the studio’s closure this year.

The game was set in an alternate universe where the 1980s never ended. Images released by Midnight Society depicted characters wearing helmets reminiscent of Daft Punk and armed with firearms and blades. The gameplay was designed as a PvPvE extraction shooter.

Midnight Society now joins the growing roster of studios faced with closure or layoffs amid a challenging period for the games industry, which has affected companies such as Ubisoft, BioWare, Phoenix Labs, and many others.
