Dan Slott Returns to DC with Superman Unlimited

DC Comics has announced an exciting new monthly series, *Superman Unlimited*, set to launch in May 2025. This series marks the return of renowned writer Dan Slott to DC, after a two-decade stint as an exclusive Marvel writer. Slott, celebrated for his work on Marvel titles such as *The Amazing Spider-Man*, *She-Hulk*, and *Fantastic Four*, previously contributed to DC with works like *Arkham Asylum: Living Hell* and *Batman Adventures*. Now, he's back to tell new stories in the world of the Man of Steel.

*Superman Unlimited* sees Slott teaming up with artist Rafael Albuquerque, known for *American Vampire*, and colorist Marcelo Maiolo. Slott expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "He’s the first and the greatest superhero of all-time, and I’ve been waiting my whole life to tell stories about him. Not just because of all the amazing powers he has, but because of who he is inside. Rafael Albuquerque and I are going to take him—and you—to places you’ll want to escape to every month. Millions of surprising ideas for Superman, Lois, the supporting cast, classic rogues, and all-new friends and foes too. The series introduces a perilous new status quo for Superman. Following a Kryptonite asteroid that showers the planet with Green K, Superman faces heightened threats, with villains like Intergang now armed with Kryptonite-fueled weapons. This forces the Man of Steel to develop new technology and crimefighting strategies to combat this deadly new era. Meanwhile, Clark Kent navigates a transformed Daily Planet, now merged with Morgan Edge's Galaxy Communications to become a global multimedia conglomerate.

DC group editor Paul Kaminski highlighted the series' significance, saying, "Superman Unlimited adds to the foundation of DC’s Superman comics in the same way Jeph Loeb and Ed McGuinness’s Superman/Batman did in the early 2000s. Superman Unlimited will capture the big, fun, high-flying adventures that Superman is known for, while also providing big moments for DC’s Superman-related comics with the introduction of a massive new Kryptonite deposit. Imagine a world where Superman is stopping a bank robbery, but every weapon is packed with Kryptonite ammunition and every petty criminal carries a Kryptonite shiv. This is a world of unlimited danger on a level that Superman, and DC’s Superman family of characters, has never faced before."

Kaminski also drew a contrast between *Superman Unlimited* and the recently launched *Justice League Unlimited*, noting, "We just launched Justice League Unlimited in the fall, and Mark Waid and Dan Mora are telling a tale of unlimited Super Heroes in that ongoing series. In contrast, Slott and Albuquerque’s Superman Unlimited is a tale of unlimited Super-Villains that are super-charged by Kryptonite. Green K is everywhere. Superman is going to need to get to work and adapt to survive. Every line of Dan’s pitch is packed with surprises and every line Rafa draws is stunning… 2025 is truly going to be Superman UNLIMITED."

The journey of *Superman Unlimited* begins with a 10-page prelude story in *DC All In 2025 FCBD Special Edition #1*, set to release on May 3, 2025. The first issue of *Superman Unlimited* follows on May 21, just ahead of the July 11 release of James Gunn's *Superman* film.
