New "Dan Da Dan" Anime Trailer Released for Theatrical Debut

DAN DA DAN: A Highly Anticipated Anime Set for October Release

The upcoming anime, DAN DA DAN, directed by Fuga Yamashiro and produced by Science Saru, is generating significant buzz. Scheduled for a premiere in October 2024, it's already secured worldwide streaming rights through platforms like Crunchyroll and Netflix, with GKIDS bringing the first three episodes to North American theaters this fall. This widespread distribution highlights the high anticipation surrounding the series.

Based on Yukinobu Tatsu's manga, DAN DA DAN centers on Ken "Okarun" Takakura, a boy who believes in aliens but not ghosts, and Momo Ayase, who holds the opposite belief. Their attempt to prove each other wrong leads to a chaotic discovery: they're both right.

The latest trailer expands on previous teasers, introducing supporting characters like Momo's grandmother, Seiko (voiced by Nana Mizuki), and classmates Aira Shiratori (Ayane Sakura) and Jin Enjoji (Kaito Ishikawa). Returning characters include Turbo-Granny (Mayumi Tanaka) and the Alien Serpo (Kazuya Nakai). The main leads are voiced by Natsuki Hanae (Okarun) and Shion Wakayama (Momo).

Visually Striking and Star-Studded Crew

The anime's vibrant style and energetic animation are drawing comparisons to Mob Psycho 100. This isn't a coincidence; Yoshimichi Kameda, a key animator on Mob Psycho 100, designs the aliens and paranormal creatures, while Naoyuki Onda (Berserk, Psycho-Pass) handles character design. The soundtrack, composed by Kensuke Ushio (A Silent Voice, Devilman Crybaby), promises to be equally compelling, with the opening theme, "Otonoke," performed by Creepy Nuts.

Early Access: A Theatrical Preview

A special theatrical preview event, DAN DA DAN: First Encounter, showcasing the first three episodes, will screen on August 31st in Asia, September 7th in Europe, and September 13th in North America. This event includes a bonus video interview with the author, editor, director, and the voice actors of Momo and Okarun. While the duration of the theatrical run remains unannounced, it's an event not to be missed for fans.

With its impressive production team, engaging premise, and wide distribution, DAN DA DAN is poised to be one of the fall's most talked-about anime. Mark your calendars for an October release on Crunchyroll and Netflix.
