For a long time, fans of Cyberpunk 2077 eagerly anticipated the integration of items from the popular game into Fortnite, a platform renowned for its diverse crossovers. When the collaboration finally materialized, excitement was palpable among the fanbase.

The resulting item set was impressive, featuring unique elements that delighted many. However, some fans expressed disappointment over the absence of the male version of the protagonist, V. This led to widespread speculation and comparisons of CD Projekt Red's marketing strategies in recent years. Yet, the reason behind this decision was much simpler than many had imagined.

Patrick Mills, the overseer of the Cyberpunk 2077 lore, was the key figure in making this call. Amid the flurry of discussions, Mills took the opportunity to explain his decision. The bundle format was designed to include only two characters, one of which had to be Johnny Silverhand. Consequently, there was no space for both versions of V. Given that Johnny is male, opting for the female version of V was a logical choice. Additionally, Mills admitted to a slight personal preference for the female V.
