Civ 7 Devs Consider Reintroducing Past Civilizations and Their Leaders

There's still a glimmer of hope for fans eager to see Gandhi lead once more in Civilization 7. This possibility was highlighted during an IGN interview with Civ 7's lead designer, Ed Beach, on February 13, 2025. Beach suggested that while Gandhi's return is on the table, it might be part of a future DLC release.

In the IGN interview, Beach shed light on the decision to exclude certain civilizations and their leaders from the base game. "We haven't forgotten about anyone who's been in our game before," Beach stated. "There's considerable discussion about the absence of Great Britain or England. People are asking, 'Why aren't they in our game?'"

Firaxis Games made the tough call to leave out Britain and India from Civilization 7 to make room for new and exciting civilizations. "There are just too many popular choices, and we always want to introduce some fresh ones that feel novel and exciting," Beach elaborated. "So, some things are left out, but we're always looking at the bigger picture, planning when to bring back leaders or civilizations. So, there's hope for Gandhi yet."

Given the extensive lineup of DLCs that enriched Civilization 6, it's reasonable to anticipate Gandhi's eventual return to Civilization 7. However, the specific timeline for this anticipated comeback remains undisclosed at this point.
