Capcom Registers Dino Crisis Trademark

Author:Kristen Update:Mar 20,2025

Capcom's recent trademark application for "Dino Crisis" in Japan has ignited a wave of excitement among fans. While not a guaranteed announcement of a new game, the public filing strongly indicates Capcom is actively exploring possibilities for the franchise.

This trademark secures the groundwork for potential future projects, most notably a remake of the beloved dinosaur survival horror series. Created by Shinji Mikami, the visionary behind Resident Evil, the original Dino Crisis roared onto the PlayStation 1 in 1999. Although the series spawned two sequels, its silence since 2003 has left fans yearning for a return to the prehistoric terror.

This speculation isn't unfounded. Capcom explicitly stated last year its intention to revitalize older franchises absent from recent releases. This followed announcements of an Okami sequel and Onimusha: Way of the Sword. Further fueling the anticipation, a Capcom fan poll in Summer 2024 crowned Dino Crisis the most desired franchise continuation, solidifying its place in fans' hearts and raising hopes for its triumphant comeback.
