Camper Waits Outside San Francisco Nintendo Store for Switch 2 Before Opening

Author:Kristen Update:May 04,2025

The excitement for the Nintendo Switch 2 is palpable, with one dedicated fan, YouTuber Super Cafe, already camping outside the soon-to-open Nintendo Store in San Francisco. In a video released on April 8, Super Cafe detailed his journey to the west coast, covering over 800 miles, to secure his spot as the first in line for both the new store's opening on May 15 and the highly anticipated Switch 2 launch on June 5, 2025.

Super Cafe, who has only recently moved into his apartment, humorously acknowledged the financial impracticality of his decision but remains undeterred. He shared his intention to camp out for the next two months, aiming to be the first on the west coast to get his hands on the new console. Interestingly, he's doing this mostly solo but has invited others interested in joining the campout to reach out to him.

While Super Cafe plans to address logistical questions such as accommodations, food, and showers in a future Q&A, his commitment mirrors a long-standing tradition of camping out for major Nintendo releases. The San Francisco store now joins the New York store, where another YouTuber is also waiting to be first in line for the Switch 2, showcasing the dedication of fans across both coasts.

For those not keen on camping out, keeping an eye on our guides for Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders might be a more comfortable option, though the situation is complicated by ongoing tariffs affecting availability in the United States.
