Summary

  • Treyarch confirms Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 2 begins on Tuesday, January 28.
  • Season 1 will have lasted for 75 days by the time Season 2 is released, making it one of the longest seasons in Call of Duty history.
  • Details on new content for Season 2 are still unknown, but Treyarch has previously teased more classic map remasters.

Treyarch Studios, the developer behind Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, has officially announced that the game's Season 2 will launch on Tuesday, January 28. This update will also introduce fresh content to the popular free-to-play Battle Royale game, Call of Duty: Warzone. Season 1, which began on November 14, will have run for a total of 75 days by the time Season 2 arrives, marking it as one of the longest seasons in Call of Duty history.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has been a monumental success for both Treyarch Studios and publisher Activision, achieving the highest player count within the first 30 days and setting a new record as the most successful Call of Duty game to date. However, the game has experienced a significant decline in player numbers over recent weeks. This drop is believed to be due to persistent cheating issues in the Ranked Play mode and ongoing server problems. With the announcement of Season 2, fans are optimistic that the introduction of new content and enhancements could revitalize the game and restore its initial popularity.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Warzone Season 2 Release Date Confirmed

In the latest update for Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Treyarch Studios confirmed the release date for Season 2 as Tuesday, January 28. While addressing issues with Zombies in the January 9 patch notes, Treyarch mentioned some fixes that could not be implemented immediately but would be included in the next season. They then officially confirmed that Season 2 would launch on January 28. Although specifics about what Season 2 will offer are still undisclosed, a comprehensive reveal is expected in a forthcoming blog post as we approach the launch date.

Season 1 of Black Ops 6 introduced an array of new multiplayer maps, modes, weapons, events, and more. It also marked a new chapter for Warzone players, with the integration of Black Ops 6 bringing a new movement system, numerous new weapons, significant gameplay updates, and a new Resurgence map called Area-99.

Additionally, Season 1 saw the return of beloved multiplayer maps like Nuketown and Hacienda from Black Ops 4. While details about Season 2 remain under wraps, Treyarch has hinted at the possibility of more classic map remasters. In a December interview, Treyarch's Associate Creative Director Miles Leslie mentioned that no Black Ops map is off-limits for remasters, though the studio tends to prioritize original maps over remakes.
