In late January, a video emerged online showcasing a tool that hackers could use to remove players from matches in Black Ops 6. The footage was captured during the game's multiplayer beta, according to Activision's response to the video. However, the company assured that the vulnerability was addressed before the official release of Black Ops 6 in November. They emphasized that the video does not represent the current state of the game, as the team consistently investigates reports of such utilities.

Despite Activision's claims, players have accused the company of dishonesty, asserting that hackers are still exploiting the utility. To support their allegations, a video was presented showing the tool in action during a match on the Nuketown map, which was introduced to Black Ops 6 just a week after its launch.

Black Ops 6 achieved the status of the top-selling game in the United States last year, as reported by Circana analysts. Remarkably, the Call of Duty franchise has maintained its position as the leading game in the U.S. for 16 consecutive years. Meanwhile, EA Sports College Football 25, released on consoles in July, emerged as the most played sports game in the country.

In 2024, U.S. gamers' spending saw a slight decline of 1.1% compared to the previous year. Circana attributes this drop to reduced demand for hardware, while expenditures on add-ons and services increased by 2% and 6%, respectively. Looking ahead, the second season of Black Ops 6 and Warzone 2, featuring a ninja theme and a crossover with the "Terminator" universe, is set to launch on January 28.
