Bandai Namco Unveils Digimon Alysion, Digital Card Game

Bandai Namco is taking another swing at bringing Digimon to mobile with the upcoming release of Digimon Alysion, a digital rendition of the popular Digimon Card Game. Set to be available on both Android and iOS platforms as a free-to-play title, the exact launch date remains under wraps.

The game was officially unveiled during Digimon Con 2025 on March 19th. The event was packed with exciting news, including the continuation of Digimon Liberator with a fresh arc set for April 2025. Bandai Namco also released a celebratory video for the 25th anniversary of the Digimon anime and introduced a new project, Digimon Adventure: Beyond. Additionally, they're developing a new RPG titled Digimon Story: Time Stranger, destined for consoles and PC.

If You Play Digimon Card Game, Alysion Isn’t the Same

Digimon Alysion isn't just a direct port of the physical card game. It introduces a novel feature called 'DigiAly' cards, unique to this digital version, along with original cards. Bandai Namco is also expanding the universe with new Digimon and characters.

The character lineup showcased on the website predominantly features an all-female cast, which marks a somewhat unusual direction for a digital card game. This shift has sparked some skepticism among fans, particularly those who were hoping for a more faithful adaptation of the physical game.

This isn't Bandai Namco's first foray into Digimon mobile gaming, and their previous attempts have met with mixed success. Having tried and failed twice before, there's a palpable sense of caution surrounding whether Digimon Alysion will succeed.

Despite these concerns, I'm eagerly anticipating the release of Digimon Alysion. A closed beta test is on the horizon, though specific details are yet to be disclosed. For the latest updates, keep an eye on their official website or follow their X account.
