Matajuegos proudly announces the upcoming release of Atuel, their surrealist documentary game, launching on PC and Android later this year! The Steam page is now live, allowing players to pre-register. The Google Play listing will follow shortly.

Developed by the Argentinian indie co-op, Matajuegos, Atuel initially debuted on itch.io in September 2022, quickly captivating audiences with its unique blend of documentary storytelling, experimental gameplay, and breathtaking dreamlike visuals. The game's innovative approach earned it the ‘Innovation in Experience Design Award’ at IndieCade 2022, along with numerous other accolades. It has also been showcased at prestigious events such as the Marché du Film at Cannes and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

Exploring the Atuel River Valley: A Documentary Game Experience

Atuel immerses players in the stunning yet climate-change-affected Atuel River Valley in Argentina. More than just a game, it's an interactive experience where you transform into various animals and elements within the ecosystem, becoming one with the landscape. Soar through the skies as a bird, then flow as the river itself – a truly unique perspective.

The game features compelling real-life interviews with historians, biologists, geologists, and local residents, providing insightful perspectives on the region's history, current state, and its future in the face of climate change. Matajuegos collaborated with The 12.01 Project, an international documentary team, to bring these stories to life.

The game’s visuals are nothing short of extraordinary. Inspired by the Cuyo desert, the landscapes possess an almost otherworldly beauty.

While you wait for Android pre-registration to open, visit the Steam page or the official website for more information. The mobile version will feature localization in seven new languages and full controller support upon release.
