Alien Series Debut Date, Episode Plan Revealed

Author:Kristen Update:Sep 20,2025

Alien: Earth premieres its first two episodes on August 12 at 8PM ET on Hulu, with global broadcasts on FX and Disney+ at 8PM PT/ET. New episodes of the eight-part season will release weekly every Tuesday.

Set in 2120—positioned after Prometheus but just two years before the original Alien—Noah Hawley's Alien: Earth follows the crashed deep-space research vessel USCSS Maginot. Protagonist Wendy (Sydney Chandler) and a squad of tactical soldiers uncover a horrifying discovery that brings them face-to-face with Earth's deadliest threat.

For context, the recently released Alien: Romulus serves as an interquel set between Alien and Aliens.

In this era of the Alien timeline, Earth is controlled by five mega-corporations: Weyland-Yutani (the franchise's primary antagonist), Prodigy, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold. While cyborgs and synthetics coexist with humans, Prodigy's CEO pioneers a breakthrough—hybrids (humanoid robots housing human consciousness). Wendy herself is the first hybrid prototype, continuing the franchise's running theme of immortality pursuits.

PlayIntriguingly, after a Weyland-Yutani spaceship collides with Prodigy City, Wendy and fellow hybrids encounter unimaginable horrors—suggesting either new Xenomorph variants or entirely original creatures. Reports indicate five distinct monster types will appear.

Official Synopsis

In 2120's Corporate Era, five corporations rule Earth. While cyborgs and synthetics walk among humans, Prodigy Corporation's CEO shatters the status quo by creating hybrids—humanoid robots implanted with human consciousness. The prototype "Wendy" represents a breakthrough in immortality research. But when Weyland-Yutani's spaceship crashes into Prodigy City, Wendy's group encounters lifeforms more terrifying than anything humanity has faced.

Showrunner Noah Hawley confirmed in January 2023 that Alien: Earth would diverge from Prometheus' backstory, favoring the original films' retro-futuristic aesthetic. While consulting with Ridley Scott about franchise lore, Hawley ultimately chose to abandon the bioweapon narrative in favor of the classic Alien mythology.

The Alien franchise is expanding rapidly, with Alien: Romulus 2 in development and rumors of another Predator crossover in Predator: Badlands.
