To begin, you must reach Tier 2 missions by completing 10 Tier 1 missions with any of the five traders (Rekt, Jen, Bob, Hugh, or Joe). Infested missions are significantly harder than standard clear missions, featuring increased zombie numbers and tougher variants like radiated zombies, cops, and ferals. The difficulty scales with mission tier, with Tier 6 being the most challenging. Biome also impacts enemy types; expect more ferals in the Wasteland than in the forest.
Upon reaching the Point of Interest (POI), activate the mission marker. Leaving the POI or dying results in mission failure. The game often guides players through a specific, often trap-laden path. To avoid these, use alternative routes, potentially bypassing lit pathways. Carrying building blocks allows for quick escape from traps or creating alternate access points.

Rewards are random but influenced by game stage, loot stage (boosted by the Lucky Looter skill and Treasure Hunter mod), mission tier, and perk selection. The "A Daring Adventurer" perk significantly improves rewards; at rank 4, it allows selecting two rewards instead of one. Selling unwanted items after the mission provides additional XP.
