The much-anticipated stress test for what might be the eighth and final major patch of Baldur's Gate III has now kicked off. Earlier, some Sony console players were treated to an early taste of the patch, but for those less eager to dive into testing, the developers suggest a full game reinstall to ensure a smooth experience.

Patch 8 introduces some exciting updates, with crossplay being a standout feature. This update allows seamless gameplay between console and PC users, enhancing the community's connectivity. To join friends across different platforms, players need only a linked Larian account. Even more intriguing is the support for cross-platform play with modded games, contingent on two conditions: all mods used by the PC player must be accessible on Mac and consoles, and the host's lobby should not exceed a double-digit number of installed mods.

In terms of multiplayer enhancements, the long-awaited split-screen co-op feature is now under testing for Xbox Series S users. This is a significant development for owners of the less powerful console, which previously couldn't handle split-screen play. It's a welcome update for this often-debated console.

Patch 8 doesn't stop there; it also introduces a feature-rich photo mode, offering players numerous customization options to capture their adventures. Additionally, the patch enriches the game with 12 new subclasses, adding further depth and variety to the gameplay. Larian Studios has also tackled various bugs and rebalanced certain elements, although some issues persist. For those curious about the full scope of changes, a comprehensive list is available on the game's official page.
