Witcher 4 Update: Latest on Release

The Witcher Saga Continues! A decade after the critically acclaimed Witcher 3, CD Projekt Red has unveiled the first trailer for Witcher 4, starring Ciri as the protagonist.

Ciri, Geralt's adopted daughter, steps into the spotlight as the Witcher trilogy concludes. The teaser depicts Ciri intervening in a village's disturbing ritualistic sacrifice, revealing a far more complex situation than initially apparent.

While no official release date exists, considering the development timelines of Witcher 3 (3.5-4 years) and Cyberpunk 2077, a 3-4 year wait for Witcher 4 seems plausible, given the early stage of production.

Platform specifics remain unannounced, but considering the projected timeframe, a current-generation console release (PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC) is anticipated. A Switch port, unlike Witcher 3, seems unlikely, though a potential Switch 2 version might be considered.

Gameplay details are scarce, but the CGI trailer hints at familiar elements: potions, signs, and combat. A new addition may be Ciri's chain, used for both trapping monsters and channeling magic.

Voice actor Doug Cockle confirmed Geralt's presence in the game, albeit in a supporting, rather than central, role. His voice in the trailer suggests a mentoring capacity for Ciri.
