Warframe's TennoCon 2024: A Blast from the Past with Warframe: 1999!

This year's TennoCon delivered a knockout punch with the announcement of Warframe: 1999, a massive update promising one of the franchise's most exciting additions yet. Get ready for a wild ride through a retro-futuristic world on the brink of a Y2K tech-apocalypse!

First up: a prologue quest, "The Lotus Eaters," arriving in August 2024. Reuniting us with a beloved Warframe character, this quest sets the stage for the main event and introduces Sevatgoth Prime and their unique weapons. Completing "The Lotus Eaters" is a prerequisite for experiencing Warframe: 1999 (releasing Winter 2024), so start your journey now!

Warframe: 1999 plunges players into an alternate 1999, where a deadly Y2K virus threatens global devastation. The setting? Höllvania, a vibrant 90s city corrupted by Techrot. Navigate this retro-infested landscape using the new Atomicyles, versatile vehicles capable of bullet jumps, drifts, and even explosive maneuvers. Command a team of six heroes – the Hex – each equipped with a Protoframe, a Warframe showcasing their human form.

Meet the Hex: Arthur (Excalibur), Aoi (Mag), Quincy (the new CYTE-09), and more, brought to life by a star-studded cast including Alpha Takahashi, Ben Starr, Melissa Medina, and Amelia Tyler. Connect with them in true 1999 style – via instant messaging – for a chance to unlock special interactions.

Arthur crosses blades with Excalibur

Prepare for a musical showdown against On-lyne, a 90s boy band turned Technocyte-infected foes, fronted by the voice of Leon Kennedy himself, Nick Apostolides! Their infectious hit single, "Party of Your Lifetime," is available now on all major streaming services.

Fashion reigns supreme in Warframe: 1999! Dual fashion frame loadouts and the introduction of Gemini Skins allow you to seamlessly transition between your Protoframes and their Origin System counterparts (for compatible frames like Excalibur). These skins also unlock fully voiced dialogue, bringing the stellar voice acting to the forefront.

Anime Arthur and Aoi

Beyond the core gameplay, Digital Extremes is collaborating with THE LINE animation studio on a Warframe: 1999 anime short, launching later this year. Additionally, high-fidelity Heirloom skins for Ember (available now) and Rhino (early 2025) are on their way.

With Warframe: 1999 arriving this Winter, and plenty more to experience in the meantime, download Warframe today from the App Store and get ready for the ultimate retro-futuristic adventure!
