Voice Delay Hits Beyond the Spider-Verse

Author:Kristen Update:Feb 19,2025

Jharrel Jerome, star of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has confirmed that production on the highly anticipated third film, Beyond the Spider-Verse, hasn't even begun. He revealed to Decider that he hasn't recorded any lines yet, and that several aspects of the project are still "being figured out." This news shouldn't come as a complete surprise, considering the five-year gap between the first and second films.

"No, I wish," Jerome responded when asked about the commencement of production. "We haven’t started up yet. A lot of things being figured out, but good things."

While Jerome's role in the second film was relatively minor, his character is poised to become a central antagonist in the third installment. Spoiler alert for Across the Spider-Verse: He portrays Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, who emerges at the film's climax not as Spider-Man, but as the Prowler.

This alternate Miles' journey diverges significantly from the main protagonist's. The radioactive spider bite intended for him instead bit the main timeline's Miles, altering the course of both their lives. With the death of his universe's Peter Parker, Earth-42's New York fell under the control of supervillains, and Miles G. Morales ultimately joined their ranks.

The narrative's resolution, and the conflict between this villainous Miles and the heroic Spider-Man, will likely unfold in Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, fans will have to exercise patience, as Deadline suggests a release date no earlier than 2026, or potentially as late as 2028 if the production timeline mirrors that of the previous film.
