Transformers Gameplay Footage Emerges Amidst Cancellation

Author:Kristen Update:Feb 21,2025

Leaked gameplay footage of the canceled Transformers: Reactivate has re-emerged online. Originally announced in 2022 by Splash Damage in partnership with Hasbro, the co-op game promised a unique twist on the Transformers universe, pitting Autobots and Decepticons against a new alien threat, "the Legion," to defend Earth.

Despite initial excitement, the project saw limited public exposure beyond occasional leaks and related merchandise. The subsequent cancellation of Transformers: Reactivate left fans disappointed, with Splash Damage citing a shift in focus to other projects. Potential job losses due to redundancies were also mentioned.

Recently surfaced footage, reportedly from a 2020 build, showcases Bumblebee navigating a destroyed city, seamlessly transforming between robot and vehicle modes, and engaging in combat. The gameplay bears resemblance to Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, but with a different antagonist. While some textures remain unfinished, the footage demonstrates a polished aesthetic and incorporates environmental destruction. A silent cutscene depicts Bumblebee's arrival in a ravaged New York City, hinting at the narrative.

Numerous other leaks from 2020, predating the official announcement, further illustrate the game's development. Although Transformers: Reactivate will never be released, the leaked footage offers a glimpse into the ambitious, albeit ultimately unsuccessful, project.
