SwitchArcade Round-Up: ‘Pizza Tower’, ‘Castlevania Dominus Collection’, Plus Today’s Other Releases and Sales

Author:Kristen Update:Jan 22,2025

Hello, fellow gamers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 28th, 2024! Yesterday's presentation was packed with exciting reveals, wasn't it? A flurry of surprise releases means our typically quiet Wednesday is anything but – and that's a good thing! We've got news, a look at today's eShop additions, and the usual sales updates. Let's dive in!

News

Partner/Indie World Showcase Delivers a Bounty of Games

Nintendo's decision to combine two smaller showcases proved a smart move, resulting in a wealth of announcements. While a complete rundown is impossible here, highlights include several surprise releases (detailed below), Capcom Fighting Collection 2, the Suikoden I & II remakes, Yakuza Kiwami, Tetris Forever, MySims, Worms Armageddon: Anniversary Edition, new Atelier and Rune Factory titles, and much more. I highly recommend watching the full video; it's worth your time!

Notable New Releases

Castlevania Dominus Collection ($24.99)

A third Castlevania collection joins the fray, courtesy of a surprise Direct announcement. This one features the three Nintendo DS titles: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin, and Order of Ecclesia. Also included is the infamous arcade game, Haunted Castle, alongside an M2-developed remake that significantly improves upon the original. This collection offers excellent emulation and a wealth of features, making it an incredible value.

Pizza Tower ($19.99)

This Wario Land-inspired platformer sprints onto the Switch, another surprise from the Direct. Players must navigate five massive floors of the Pizza Tower to save their restaurant. Fans of Wario's handheld adventures will adore this, but even those without strong Wario ties who enjoy platformers should check it out. We're hoping to review this one soon.

Goat Simulator 3 ($29.99)

The surprise releases keep coming! It's Goat Simulator 3. You know the drill. While I can't confirm Switch performance, I'm aware that more powerful systems have experienced some hiccups. Buyer beware! But hey, perhaps poor performance just adds to the game's inherent chaotic charm. Silly goats, silly antics, open world mayhem – your Switch might just spontaneously combust (or not!).

Peglin ($19.99)

I know it's a common sentiment, but I truly believe EA missed a massive opportunity by not bringing PopCap's games to Switch. A collection would have been amazing! Alas, it didn't happen. So, for Peggle fans, I wholeheartedly recommend Peglin. Already a mobile hit, this title blends Peggle mechanics with turn-based RPG roguelite elements. A review is forthcoming.

Doraemon Dorayaki Shop Story ($20.00)

Kairosoft's latest shop sim spices things up with the addition of a popular license: Doraemon. This standard Kairosoft experience features characters from the beloved manga and anime, with nods to the creator's other works appearing in the customer base. A charming entry.

Pico Park 2 ($8.99)

More Pico Park for existing fans. Up to eight players can join in locally or online, making for a truly chaotic (and fun) experience. Puzzle stages demand teamwork and clever problem-solving. Great for those who enjoyed the first game, but unlikely to attract newcomers.

Kamitsubaki City Ensemble ($3.99)

An affordable rhythm game showcasing Kamitsubaki Studio's music. Simple, yet enjoyable.

SokoPenguin ($4.99)

A Sokoban-style puzzle game featuring a penguin. One hundred levels of crate-pushing await.

Q2 Humanity ($6.80)

Over three hundred quirky physics-based puzzles. Players utilize character abilities and drawing mechanics to solve problems. Supports up to four players locally or online.
