Switch 2 Leak Teases Joy-Con Design

Nintendo Switch 2 Joy-Con Leak: A Closer Look at the Magnetic Controllers

Recent online leaks suggest we're getting a clearer picture of the Nintendo Switch 2's Joy-Con controllers. While the Switch's lifespan extends into 2025, whispers of its successor are growing louder, especially with Nintendo's confirmed announcement before the end of their 2024 fiscal year. Anticipation is building, fueled by rumors and leaks surrounding the Switch 2's purported March 2025 launch.

Numerous leaks have attempted to detail the Switch 2's specifications and features, including hardware details from third-party developers and insiders. These sources have also hinted at the continued use of Joy-Cons, their color schemes, and a significant change in their connection mechanism. New images, surfacing on the r/NintendoSwitch2 subreddit and subsequently shared across social media, appear to confirm these claims.

Posted by user SwordfishAgile3472, allegedly sourced from a Chinese social media platform, these images offer the clearest view yet of the Switch 2's Joy-Cons. The photos showcase the back and side of a left Joy-Con, revealing a predominantly black controller with blue accents, a departure from the original Switch's blue-dominant design. Crucially, the images highlight the rumored magnetic connection system, replacing the physical rail system of the original Switch.

Understanding the Leaked Joy-Con Details

The leaked images reveal a blue and black color scheme, similar to the original Switch Joy-Cons, but with a black base and blue accents. The images also provide a glimpse of the button layout, showcasing larger "SL" and "SR" buttons, plus a third, unlabeled button on the back. Speculation suggests this third button might be used to magnetically detach the Joy-Cons from the console.

These leaked Joy-Con images align with other recent leaks depicting the console and various Switch 2 mockups. However, until Nintendo provides official confirmation, the details remain unverified. The anticipation continues to build as we eagerly await an official unveiling of the Nintendo Switch 2.
